Many professionals in the insurance industry have been balancing caregiving and careers for a multitude of years and many more will join this band of people over time, given our ageing population. But is support and flexibility provided by the workplace?
According to Carers UK, 12 000 people in the UK become caregivers every day and 75% of carers in employment struggle to balance between work and care giving. The Carer’s Leave Act of 2023, coming into force April 6th, 2024, requires written notice to all employees of their new rights and introducing provisions to prevent discrimination for those exercising their rights. Will this bring balance, support, flexibility, and inclusion to the community of carers?
